For Parents

For Parents

This one is for you.

Three sessions in the Master Key Live library are written directly for parents and coaches. They are also the sessions that most often make grown-ups go quiet.

  • “What my parents did right, and what hurt.” Told from the player’s perspective, with enough time and distance for honesty.
  • “What I needed from adults that I was not getting.” A look back at what the player was feeling, and could not say.
  • “The coach who almost broke me, and what it taught me.” The difference between hard and harmful.

Many of the other sessions are written for your kid. But you should sit in anyway. Every session, across all eight categories, has something for the adult on the sideline.

“Parents want this as much as players do.” (from the MKL topic guide, session 14)

What parents come away with
  • Specific things to say, and not say, on the car ride home.
  • A clearer sense of what the game is supposed to teach.
  • Confidence that you are spending your family’s time and money on something that matters.
